BEECHE

Bromley Environmental Education Centre at High Elms (BEECHE)

Greener thinking for greener living!

Opened in 2008, BEECHE offers enhanced facilities for outdoor learning, and we encourage use by local community groups, schools, young people and local residents. It houses two multipurpose rooms used as class/conference rooms (available for hire) and exhibition space, a café and toilets.

A sustainable approach to the design has been employed to create a scheme that is sensitive to its surroundings. The timber frame has been sourced from FSC certified woodlands and the straw bales used to build the walls were sourced from a local farm. The building has a range of other 'green' features from the green roof to waterless urinals and sunpipes which allow more natural light into the building – why not visit to find out more?
The Green Roof Café follows sustainable principles, where possible sourcing local produce and serving a range of fair-trade products.

BEECHE is a flexible building for all to use and enjoy, it highlights the benefits of sustainable living and encourages environmental protection. BEECHE is located in High Elms Country Park which is within the nominated ‘Darwin's Landscape Laboratory World Heritage Property’.

BEECHE is open to the public on weekends and during school holidays – please check our website for opening hours.
